Notice of Race - Simcoe 200

a Taste of the Worrell !!!

a two day event , racing 100 km. each day

We will circumnavigate Lake Simcoe each day, once clockwise and once counter clockwise.

Date July 17th. & 18th. 1999

Registration will be Friday, July 16th, 1999, from 7:30pm until 8:30pm. (unless preregistered by fax, email or snail mail)

Boats & Entries

Location

The Barrie Yacht Club located at the foot of Johnson Street in Barrie, Ontario about 100 km North of Toronto.

Schedule

Racers briefing immediately following the close of registration on Friday evening.

The race shall commence at 9:30am (on the Club chronometer) July 17th, 1999.

Should any postponement be required (severely adverse weather only) then the appropriate flag shall be hoisted on the clubÆs main mast. The new starting time will be at the next full half-hour, of the real time clock from the lowering of the postponement flag. i.e.: 10:00am, 10:30am, etc.

The second days racing shall begin in exactly the same manner. Briefing at 8:45am.

Start/Finish

Boats shall start by passing through a line, in an easterly direction, between the Barrie Yacht Club main flag mast and a club buoy anchored approximately 200 metres offshore.

Boats shall finish by passing through the same line in a westerly direction.

The Race Course

The planned course shall be as follows;

Day One (marks to Starboard)

Day Two (marks to port)

Depending on each dayÆs predicted weather, the course may be reversed. A green flag flying from the club`s main mast shall indicate that the marks to starboard course is to be followed. A red flag shall indicate that the marks are to rounded to port.

The approximate straight-line distance is 100km (60 miles). The actual distance to be sailed may be considerably longer.

The Race Committee reserves the right to alter the course to be sailed, either day, by notifying the sailors no less than one half-hour prior to that dayÆs start.

Racing Rules

The ISAF rules of racing shall govern this event

Scoring/Awards

  1. Boats shall be scored and awarded for Line Honors
  2. Boats will also be scored and awarded on corrected time, using the 1999 USSA multi-hull ratings
  3. Final results shall be based on a the total elapsed time of both days combined.

Please be warned, this is a big lake and you must be completely self sufficient. There is no chase boat, committee boats or race staff.
