2004 Kingston Multihull Regatta
JULY 10 - 11, 2004 KINGSTON, ONTARIO
1. INVITATION:
CORK/Sail Kingston and the North American Hobie Class, the Mystere Class, the Nacra Class, the Formula 18 Class, the Open Class, the Tornado Class and the WindRider Rave Class Associations invite multihull sailors to the 2004 Kingston Multihull Regatta in Kingston, Ontario.
2. SITE:
The regatta will be hosted from Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (POH), site of the 1976 Olympic Sailing events. Racing will take place on the fresh waters of Kingston Harbour.
3. ELIGIBILITY:
Tornado, WindRider Rave Hydrofoil, Open Cat Class, Nacra, Formula 18 (including Hobie Tiger), Mystere and Hobie Cat Classes H16, H17, H20, are eligible to compete provided that they comply with their Class Rules. Competitors must meet all ownership, class membership, and yacht measurement requirements, must have completed registration and paid all event fees before beginning official competition. Separate starts may be made for fleets of greater than 5.
4. RULES:
The 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) will govern
the Regatta. In the event of conflict, the English version will prevail
and the sailing instructions will take precedence.
RRS 44.1 and 44.2
will be changed by the replacement of the 7200 penalty with a
3600 penalty.
5. SCHEDULE:
Seven races are scheduled. More may be indicated in the Sailing Instructions.

6. COURSE:
Courses will be set in accordance with class guidelines and the Sailing Instructions.
7. SCORING:
The Low Point System, RRS Appendix A, will be used. The scoring variations outlined in the IHCA Standard Sailing Instructions will be used for all classes. One race is required for a series. If five or more races are completed there will be one drop.
8. INSPECTION & MEASUREMENT:
Boats are subject to inspection and/or measurement at any time during the Regatta..
9. ENTRY & FEES:
Entry fee is $55 Cdn for doublehanded boats, $40 Cdn for singlehanded. For planning purposes, CORK/Sail Kingston would appreciate entries being received on or before June 25, 2004. The entry fee includes a per diem per boat fee to the City of Kingston for use of facilities. Entries received after June 25 will be subject to a 40% late fee ($77 doublehanded & $56 singlehanded)
10. PRIZES & AWARDS:
Prizes will be awarded based upon the following: Division entry under 3 = one award, 3 - 6 = two awards, over 6 = three awards. With sufficient entries, arrangements may be made to accommodate a "B" fleet in the H16 division.
11. COACHES & COACH BOATS:
Coaches shall register with the regatta office upon arrival and provide information on any support boat(s) they might use during the regatta. In rescue and towing circumstances, coach boats will be expected to take instruction from the Race Officer.
12. ACCOMMODATION:
Competitors have a range of accommodation from which to
choose. Most tend to stay at one of the many Queen's University or St.
Lawrence College residences. These are as close as a three-minute drive
from the mooring area.
